Rose & Nightingale

What do singer/multi-instrumentalist Behsat Üvez, trained in Turkish traditional music, jazz-clarinettit Steven Kamperman and contemporary music accordeonist Bart Lelivelt have in common? Luckily, music is not about the eye, but about the ears. From this perspective, Baraná Trio proofs a combination of three natural improvisers, who perfectly understand each other. For exemple in their new program: the Rose and the Nightingale.

"THE ROSE AND THE NIGHTINGALE are the symbol of the mutual yet impossible “true” love. The vulnerable, headstrong and irresistibly beautiful Rose is the Nightingale’s source of inspiration.

Since time immemorial they have been looking for each other, found each other, but they have never touched each other. The thorns of the slender Rose prevented the Nightingale from alighting. Maybe it is just as well, or we would never be able to hear the peerless beauty of the Nightingale’s voice and songs.

The story of the Rose and the Nightingale has always been a unique inspiration for many artists, from minstrels to painters, from Central Asia to present day Anatolia. They used this theme in great depth.
Baraná Trio would like to contribute to this universal quest with a happy, sad and sometimes humorous musical interpretation. The play of love between the Rose and the Nightingale is still taking place all over the world even though we can’t always see or hear them.
