Turkish World meets new Dutch Jazz

Baraná is the musical crossover concept of Turkish singer and multi-instrumentalist Behsat Üvez and Dutch reed player Steven Kamperman.

Since 2002 Baraná champions new music that contains lots of diversity and playful improvisations, but never forgets its age-old roots. A recurrent feature of the Baraná-ensembles is 'the meeting': of ideas, of cultures and of strong musical personalities... thus creating an unheard-of language. Baraná is a Turkish folkloric term referring to a  meeting with improvised contributions  by musicians, singers and poets.
